Any registered group may apply to perform at Voices in Harmony! Our Friday night academic showcase will feature the eight groups with the highest scoring videos. These groups will perform live for our judges’ panel and receive feedback from their performances. A special performance opportunity will be awarded to one of these lucky groups! Academic showcase performers will be recognized at Saturday’s Headliner Concert.
Don’t want to be featured on Friday night? Don’t worry! Submit a video anyway for a chance to perform on a Saturday afternoon showcase!
Please submit a video of your group performing their best song*, via web-link (preferably YouTube or Vimeo) to firstname.lastname@example.org. PLEASE BE SURE YOUR EMAIL SUBJECT LINE READS VOICES IN HARMONY SUBMISSION! If you submit via Google Drive please ensure that the sharing settings are set to “anyone with the link can view.”
*Submissions are due by Feb. 8, 2019. Announcement of the performing groups will be made by the end of February. The videos will be scored on the ensembles’ vocal techniques, musicality in the a cappella idiom, and on their visual presentation.
*Video should be front-facing and close enough that faces can be seen. Try to have the best audio and lighting possible so that the videos can be most accurately adjudicated
*Visual presentation does not necessarily mean choreography. The AEA Performance Elements category puts a very large emphasis on emotional engagement, accessibility, and believability. Choreography will only earn points if it enhances the presentation of the music and the song and not on its own merit.
